Google Mapping and Language Workshop, March 10 & 11, 2016

The American Indian Language Development Institute in collaboration with Google Earth Outreach Trainer’s Network held the Google Mapping and Language workshop, March 10 & 11, 2016. The workshop was held at the Huhugam Heritage Center, Gila River Indian Community, Arizona.

The two-day workshop introduced participants to free Google geospatial technologies (Google Earth ProGoogle My MapsTour BuilderFusion Tables) to use as a digital platform for indigenous mapping and other cultural projects. Participants created their own maps and shared them at the end of the second day. A discussion related to using native language in map making was held on the first day.
